Irene Isidro (now Irene Guinto), who grew up in Tappan, New York has taken over her
father’s Filipino store, formerly known as "Roger's Filamor" in August
2007, bringing Filipino cuisine and Filipino Asian goods mainstream to
the public in the Orangetown Shopping Center. Her store is now called, "Barkada", a word from the Filipino language, Tagalog, meaning group of
friends or close family. "Affordable fusion, Filipino-style" raved The Journal News on April 4, 2008. Rivertown Magazine says "It's different and it's delicious." Barkada, a great place for family and
friends to meet for some good Filipino eats or to get some Filipino

food lends itself to various blends of cuisines that the country has
been exposed to over the centuries, having influences from the Spanish,
Chinese and Japanese. At Barkada, our food is served “Turo-turo” style,
derived from Tagalog, meaning “to point”, a popular Filipino way to
order food quickly, where a customer simply points to a dish they would
